Rosie Bowker

Rosie Bowker is a versatile flautist who
performs on modern, baroque and keyed flutes. Rosie has performed with orchestras including the London Symphony Orchestra, BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra, and period ensembles including the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, Avison Ensemble, Oxford Bach Soloists.

Rosie has performed concertos with the Academy of Ancient Music and Guildhall Baroque Orchestra, Commonwealth Youth Orchestra, Divertimento Strings and Guildhall New Music Ensemble. She has given solo recitals at Cambridge Summer Music Festival, Handel&Hendrix in London (Handel House Talent Scheme 2017-18), Two Moors Festival, West Road Concert Hall and Kettle’s Yard and chamber recitals at Petworth Festival, Sherborne Abbey Festival, for City Music Society, Maidenhead Music Society, Purbeck Arts Weeks and at venues including Universitetets Aulaen, Oslo and St Martin-in-the-Fields.

In 2016 she graduated with an MPerf(Distinction) from the Guildhall School of Music & Drama where she now assists David Dolan on the ‘Interpretation through Improvisation’ elective, teaching undergraduates and postgraduates. Rosie also enjoys taking music to children and vulnerable adults through her work with Live Music Now, LSO Discovery and OAE Tots. When playing modern flute, Rosie performs on a Lillian Burkart flute which she purchased with the generous support of EMI Sound Foundation, Brendan Griggs, Loan Fund for Musical Instruments, Pitt-Rivers Charitable Trust, Sherborne Abbey Festival, VEC Acorn Trust, Jane Vessey and Wessex Young Musicians’ Trust. Rosie is a graduate from Christ’s College, Cambridge with a BA(Hons) in Music.
